The Ethnographic Research Lab (ERL) at the Cyprus University of Technology is a multidisciplinary space for exploring contemporary social, cultural, and technological transformations through ethnographic practice. Bringing together researchers, filmmakers, and artists, the Lab investigates how lived experience, media, and material environments intersect in Cyprus and the wider Eastern Mediterranean.
Rooted in social anthropology and visual ethnography, ERL promotes innovative, collaborative, and practice-based research—from urban change and migration to digital culture and emerging forms of citizenship. Through fieldwork, filmmaking, and public engagement, the Lab connects academic inquiry with creative practice, fostering critical understandings of how people inhabit and imagine their worlds.
